RoHS is a mandatory standard established by legislation, officially known as the “Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment.” It entered into force on July 1, 2006, primarily to regulate the materials and manufacturing processes of electrical and electronic products, thereby promoting human health and environmental protection. The standard sets limits for six substances—lead, mercury, certain cadmium compounds, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers—and stipulates that the lead content must not exceed 0.1%.
